Easter Weekend 2009

We had an awesome Easter weekend! After Oaklee's baptism on Saturday, we had a luncheon at the church. I enjoyed visiting with both of our families, and everything is better with food, right!?!

 

After the luncheon, the Rogers' side of the family headed home. The Gardner side of the family were all staying in town for the weekend, so the party lasted all weekend.

Saturday afternoon we all went to see Monsters vs. Aliens in 3-D. It was a very cute movie, and we all looked stylin' in our lovely glasses!

 After church on Sunday, the cousins all came over to our house to see the new pony (the one that Santa brought for Christmas). We had a great time in the back yard--football, sidewalk chalk, and pony rides. The best part of all was that the SUN was shining! It was great to sit on the patio, soak up the rays, and visit. We were sad to see everyone leave. We wish we all lived closer so those days could be a common occurance!

  As I put the kids to bed on Sunday, we talked again about the real reason for Easter. It was so touching to me to listen to little McKinley describe the Ressurection of Jesus Christ from the eyes of a 5 year old. Children have such a great grasp on all things spiritual--what great examples they are to me.

As I discussed what the Ressurection would mean to us all one day--that we would be able to live in Heaven with Heavenly Father and Jesus as long as we remain worthy--the girls brought up their two special neices, Cloee and Lauren, who returned to Heavenly Father almost 2 years ago. 

We sure miss them, and can't wait to see them again one day. We love them and think of them often. We are grateful that the Gospel teaches us that we will be with them again. What peace that brings into our hearts.
